Let's talk about impulse buys that turn out so, so right. A few weeks ago, I got this image in my mind of a look featuring a sort of grungy button through midi/maxi dress with an abstract print and sleeves, something that would work just as well with a pair of motor boots as with some simple sandals. Perfect with my current favourite hairstyle: long, messy waves. When something like that enters my mind's eye, I get this single minded determination to find the perfect piece to complete the look. And whaddayaknow, during one of my daily online window shopping sessions, I happened upon this gorgeous patchwork print midi dress by And Other Stories.

The shape is unlike most midi dresses, almost reminding me of traditional men's kimonos. The print also strikes me as Japanese in vibe. I've told you before about my love for abstract prints, based on the fact that they don't let you be pinned down as easily as a floral print, for example. And the button through style allows for the wearer to keep it as covered up - or as saucily leggy - as they'd feel like. It was more expensive than most pieces I buy without a second thought, but I knew I'd get lots of wear out of it. And I was right, it's definitely the sort of piece I  want to put on every single day on whenever it's warm enough to do so. Almost like walking around in a fancy robe, and ain't nothing better than that, man. And the flow of a midi length skirt or dress flouncing around my legs always makes me feel very sensual. Zero regrets about this buy!

Btw, I just joined snapchat after a major tutorial by my oldest stepson. I'm stylingdutchman, add me if you want to see some random ass snaps of my life.

  1. I love this dress, and yeah the cut does seem different but in an awesome way. I'm pretty bored of basic maxis these days, so they have to have something special like this one.
This setting is awesome, I just wanna live where you do haha.

  4. I wish And Other Stories will come over to Asia. I tried buying some pieces at Brussels when I visited last year but luck wasn't on my side. They ran out of my size on the items I wanted =( You look so good in this dress. I'm sure you'll wear it a lot more in summer.
Let me perfect my snapchat skill and I will add everyone including you in my list.
