Thigh High Boots and 60's

dress: Think Twice vintage
blouse: Zara
boots: Sacha
coat: H&M

Ah, I love this outfit. I have been a fan of sixties-style for years now and I bought these boots 2 years ago when the thigh high boot just was having its comeback, but I am nowhere near sick of them just yet. An outfit like this one makes me feel like an awesome movie heroine kicking some Cold War ass.

In fact, I was inspired by pretty petite Elien. She hasn't posted the outfit I was inspired by yet (I've already seen it because I took the pics, oh yeah), but rest assured: it was 60's and adorable and awesome and featured a coat with fur trims and some thigh high boots and I totally ripped her off. Sorry Elien! I added a cute little Russian-esque fur hat to the ensemble to go get a bread from the bakery. Overdressing is my raison d'être.

By the way, in class I had a discussion with some friends about which girl from Sex and the City we would be. We really couldn't decide, but I told the rest that if I had to pick one of the characters from Desperate Housewives, I would totally be Bree.

Surprised? Sure, my edgy punk aesthetic and witty personality don't really scream "Bree Vandekamp". However, I definitely have it in me: striving for pristine detailling, the desire to become a first class baking queen and an overall, deep-felt need to be the most perfect human being I can be. A bossy knowitall with a holier-than-thou attitude, I'm not even denying that part of who I am. Why should I? It has brought me where I am today, it drives me to be a better person than yesterday and it gives me pleasure when I reach the goals I set for myself.

What Desperate Housewives character would you compare yourself to?

PS: Yeay for mega random blogposts!

PPS: I just bought a vintage fur hat. Does this make me a bad person? :(

  1. I think I would be Bree 2. Because of the fact she likes the be right and the fact that she would do anything for her friends. From S&C my friends have named me Samantha (not in the slutty kinda way). Not sure why but she's funny :p

  2. Never call anyone slutty where I can hear it please! :D read up on slutshaming!

  4. Nope, Vintage Fur is like getting a dog from a shelter.. ;) or something like that! I found a B-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l fur coat in the streets last week. Now I wear it with pride! Love to see

  5. I'm thinking about getting a vintage fur as well, but they often feel very "icky", like a dead dog or something :D but if I ever find one that is really gorgeous, I might just contemplate buying it. The animal's been killed anyway and I'd feel sad if it would go to waste...

  6. The animal was already dead, right? That would be my argument. But I've had people reproaching me that by wearing any fur - even vintage - you support the fur industry because you're basically telling other people fur is okay. Totally hypothetical by the way because I don't even own anything fur. :(

  7. i don't think vintage fur is bad! i think it shows more respect to continue using it instead of having it thrown out, you know? but i also understand the argument about how it still supports fur. it can't be beat for warmth though... eep.

  8. Wat een mooie laarzen! Ik heb nog altijd spijt dat ik er 2 jaar geleden geen gekocht had, ik had het perfecte paar gevonden voor nog geen 40 euro! Helaas...

En vintage bont telt niet, vind ik!

  9. I don't really like desperate housewives, but I'm Miranda from SATC for sure :D and I think everybody has something from Carrie...

  10. First of all: you look amazing! I love the dress-blouse-combo and the pretty coat! Perfectly chic!

Second: it's a vintage hat so the animal has died long ago, I don't think that's something bad, it would be worse if you had bought a new fur hat. I don't know, maybe this opinion is pointless but I think it's better to recycle or buy 2nd hand fur than to support the demand for "fresh" fur accessories.

  15. This outfit is amazing!!! I really love the corduroy jumper and especially with those boots!! What a cool way to wear that dress :) Oh and you're not a bad person for buying a vintage fur hat. It's not like you went out of your way to buy new fur.

  16. Never seen that show, BUT that jumper can do no wrong and can be as holier-than-thou as it wants!

  17. I love this outfit! I actually just got a pink corduroy jumper from asos and have been a little stumped about different ways to wear it, so this is really helpful! :)

  19. Looking good, hot stuff.

  21. I see no harm in most fur products these days, if you shop carefully you can find "friendly" fur. And if it's vintage like yours, you're just making the most of something instead of letting it go to waste, which is way better. And I love this outfit, the boots, the kitty print, the vintage dress, so much awesomeness going on. I really like thigh-highs, but most of my dresses and skirts are so long they'd hide the boots anyway. Not to mention how annoying it is to have your hem constantly getting caught on the boot... But anywho. You = awesome. As always.

  24. Hi Annebeth, thank you for the blog comment! I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog, but I cannot recall if I've ever commented or not. I've fallen into a serious blog commenting rut lately, but I'm slowly working my way out of it :)

This outfit is beautiful and quite possibly my all-time favorite of yours. The sweetness of the pink corduroy and the sheer cat blouse really compliment one another.

  25. I will never tire of that cat print blouse. Keep it up Ms. Perfect!

  27. I think mine is real mink, it feels incredibly soft, I don't think it's as old as the ones you regularly find in thrift stores. I'll bring it to a future photo shoot ;) And you bring your hat!
